A metaphor for a new thought on the horizon, it is "a new island, a new wrinkle, the deepening of wonder." Dillard finds various names for it as she sketches this new thing onto her drawing of the Puget Sound islands visible from her window. I suppose here, in my own way, I am seeking to name the things that most capture my attention as I look out at the world from my perspective.
